Uko Adams, The Eclectic Musician

There are many pianists and skilled traditional guzheng players. But few performers blends them both together in an elegant, dynamic, eclectic manner.

That's exactly what I do.

I'm Uko Adams, originally from Taiwan, and music has been my lifelong passion.

Starting with piano lessons at the tender age of three and later immersing myself in the enchanting melodies of the guzheng at age 10, I've accumulated over three decades of experience in music education, and have excelled at exploring the intricate mini-facets of these timeless art forms.

Throughout my journey, I've been fortunate to learn from exceptional mentors like He Li'an, Su Limei, and Susan Aija Lzaks for piano, and Wu Dajiang and Shui Wenjun for guzheng. Their guidance has shaped me into the musician and educator I am today. I've also delved into the world of composition under the mentorship of esteemed figures like Fan Guangchi and Zhang Jiren.

My educational background includes studies at the prestigious Taipei Hwa Kang Arts School, where my passion for music flourished, and earning a master's degree in Guzheng from Chinese Culture University. Later, I pursued my love for teaching and obtained a master's in Music Education from the University of Houston, Moores School of Music.

On stage, I've had the privilege of sharing my music with audiences around the world. From solo performances in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan to symposiums at prestigious venues like the Taipei National Music Hall and MGM National Harbor, each experience has been a journey of growth and connection.

Currently, I serve as the president of Uko Music Studio, where I'm dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musicians. I also lead the Guzheng Ensemble "Texas Songbirds" and explore my eclectic passion for blending American Country and traditional Chinese styles in my compositions.

Beyond my professional endeavors, I'm actively involved in music organizations such as the American Association of Piano Teachers and the Texas Piano Competition Committee. My journey in music therapy, evidenced by my Texas Music Therapist license, reflects my belief in the transformative power of music.

In everything I do, my goal is simple: to share the beauty of music and inspire others to discover the magic it holds.
